The company was launched in August 1999

- 2 aircraft
- Determined CEO by the name of Brett Godfrey

Today Virgin Blue is valued at $2.3 billion. Godfrey's slice of the company exceeds $80 million. (within 5 years)

Figures:

Within four years - revenue has grown to more than $1.2 billion per annum - profit of $130 million.

Fleet of 40 jets and transports almost one million people each month. (more than 30% of the domestic market against Qantas)

To help stop the market share Qantas has only now launched Jetstar.

2800 Virgin staff.

Commenced flights to New Zealand.
